Connect the dots printables
Draw a sailboat, kite or watering can by joining the numbers in order. Choose a 20-, 30- or 40-dot picture below. Each puzzle has one continuous numbered path and a separate completed drawing to check when you’re finished.
Free PDFs, with no email or account. A4 versions and separate answer sheets are below. Each file is one page; these are fixed pictures for pencil drawing.
Sailboat: connect 1 to 20
The shortest path draws a broad hull and one tall triangular sail. Begin at the left end of the boat, follow the numbers around the hull and sail, then close the last gap from 20 to 1.

Kite: connect 1 to 30
Follow the outline of the kite and its winding tail. The inner kite lines are already drawn. Keep following the next number even when the path changes direction. Join 30 back to 1 to finish the picture.

Watering can: connect 1 to 40
The longest drawing takes in the can, handle and spout. A small preprinted detail marks the opening inside the handle. Draw the numbered outer path all the way to 40, then join 40 back to 1.

Follow the numbers, then close the outline
Put your pencil on the dot beside 1 and draw a straight line to the dot beside 2. Continue from 2 to 3, then 3 to 4. Aim for the dot itself rather than the printed number. You can pause at any dot and carry on from there.
All three pictures count by ones, with each number appearing once. There are no color changes or new sequences to start. After the highest number, draw one final line back to dot 1. That closing line completes the outline; the instructions on each sheet remind you when to draw it.
If a line looks out of place, find the last number you joined and check the next one before adding more. Erase a mistaken line and reconnect those two dots. The completed sheet can help you find a missing step without starting over.
Once the outline is finished, color it or add your own scene around it: waves under the boat, a sky behind the kite or flowers beside the watering can. Those additions are yours to draw; they aren’t extra numbered steps.
Choose your paper size before printing
Use the US Letter PDF for 8.5 × 11-inch paper, or A4 for 210 × 297-millimeter paper. Print in portrait orientation at Actual size or 100%. Check your print preview before making copies. The dots, numbers and completed outlines use black ink, so you don’t need a color printer.
Start with the 20-dot sailboat if you want the fewest steps. The kite has 30 dots and the watering can has 40; choose by how many joins you feel like drawing. The previews show the real spacing and detail, without an age or time limit.
The files have no editable fields. Downloading again gives you the same picture, and the answer PDFs contain the completed outline rather than another puzzle. You may print copies for home or classroom use. To share them online, link to this page so others can choose their paper size.
