Thankful tree printable

Give eight small thankful notes a place on one tree. This free printable has a tree page and eight cut-out leaves, each numbered to match its place. Prefer to skip cutting? The one-page version has the same leaves and writing lines already on the tree.

Download either version below in US Letter or A4, with no email or account. The pages are black and white, ready for handwriting. Each leaf has three lines for a short note; you can leave some empty and add to the tree later.

Choose your tree

The two-page set lets people write on separate leaves before putting them together. The no-cut tree needs only a pen or pencil. Both finish as a single sheet with eight notes.

The dashed outlines on the tree are placement guides. The separate leaves have solid edges and three writing lines each. Their numbers, shapes and positions match the guides, so all eight can fit without covering another note. The no-cut edition keeps that same spacing.

Put the notes on your tree

  1. Choose the file that matches your paper. Print at 100% or actual size, on one side. For the cut-out version, print both pages with the same settings so the leaves and guides stay the same size.
  2. Write a short thankful note on a leaf. A word, a small drawing or a few lines all belong here. Someone else can write down the words a person chooses. Sharing a note or passing is optional, and names aren’t required.
  3. For separate leaves, cut around each solid outline. Match leaf 1 to guide 1, leaf 2 to guide 2, and so on, and attach with a little glue stick or tape. Keep the tree page whole. On the no-cut version, write directly on the tree instead.

Ordinary printer paper works for these files. Color the leaves if you like, leaving the notes easy to read. You don’t need a frame or a larger printer.

There are eight spaces, with no dates or daily schedule. Fill them during one gathering or return to the same tree over several days. If more people want to contribute, use another tree so the notes still have room.

What fits on a leaf?

The example below uses invented notes, including “Warm toast on a rainy morning” and “A friend who waited while I tied my shoe.” Longer phrases wrap onto another line. A small, specific thing is enough; nobody needs to fill all three lines.
