## 2026–27 student dates

- August 27: Orientation for Students Entering Grades 6 and 9. Orientation for students entering grades 6 and 9.
- August 31: First Day of School. First day for all students.
- September 2: First Full Day of Kindergarten. First full day for kindergarten students; transportation begins.
- September 7: Labor Day. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
- September 21: Professional Development Day. No school for students; teachers are on duty.
- October 16: Professional Development Day and MSEA Convention. No school for students; teachers are on duty or at the convention.
- October 30: First Marking Period Ends. First marking period ends; all schools close three hours early for students.
- November 3: Election Day. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
- November 16: Elementary Conference Day. No prekindergarten sessions; schools are closed for elementary students. Middle and high schools are in session for a full day.
- November 17: Prekindergarten Conference Day. No prekindergarten sessions; other students attend as scheduled.
- November 25: Thanksgiving Break Begins. Schools close three hours early; Thanksgiving break begins at the end of the school day.
- November 26 to 27: Thanksgiving Break. Thanksgiving holiday; schools and offices are closed through November 27.
- December 23, 2026 to January 3, 2027: Winter Break. Winter break begins at the end of the school day; students are off through January 3.
- January 4: Schools Reopen. Schools reopen after winter break.
- January 15: Second Marking Period Ends. Second marking period ends; all schools close three hours early for all students.
- January 18: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
- January 19: Professional Development Day. No school for students; teachers are on duty.
- February 10: Early Release and Afternoon Professional Development. All schools close three hours early for all students; staff engage in afternoon professional development.
- February 15: Presidents’ Day. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
- March 10: Professional Development Day. No school for students; teachers are on duty.
- March 19 to 29: Spring Break. Spring break begins at the end of the school day; students are off through March 29.
- March 30: Schools Reopen. Schools reopen after spring break.
- April 2: Third Marking Period Ends. Third marking period ends; all schools close three hours early for students.
- April 16: Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Conference Day. No prekindergarten or kindergarten sessions; other students attend as scheduled.
- April 19: Prekindergarten Conference Day. No prekindergarten sessions; other students attend as scheduled.
- May 17: Professional Development Day. No school for students; teachers are on duty.
- May 21: Last Day for Seniors. Last day for seniors.
- May 31: Memorial Day. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
- June 14: Conditional Last Day for Students. If no emergency closure days occur, this is the last day of the school year for students. The source says the calendar is re-designated if emergency closures occur.
- June 18: Juneteenth Observed. Schools and offices are closed; students do not attend.
