## 2026–27 student dates

- August 10: First day of school. First day for MPS students; first quarter begins.
- September 7: Labor Day. All schools and offices are closed for Labor Day; students do not attend.
- September 18: Asynchronous learning day. Asynchronous learning day: students work remotely; teachers report to school.
- October 9: First quarter ends. First quarter ends.
- October 12: Indigenous Peoples Day. No teachers or students attend.
- October 13: Second quarter begins. Second quarter begins.
- October 30: Teacher professional development day. Teacher professional-development day; no learners attend.
- November 11: Veterans Day. All schools and offices are closed for Veterans Day; students do not attend.
- November 23 to 27: Thanksgiving break. Thanksgiving break; students and teachers are off.
- December 18: Second quarter ends. Second quarter ends.
- December 21, 2026 to January 4, 2027: Winter break. Winter break for students through January 4, inclusive.
- January 1: New Year's Day. All schools and offices are closed for New Year's Day; students do not attend. This date falls during winter break.
- January 4: Teacher professional development day. Teacher PD day; no students attend. This date is included in the student winter break.
- January 5: Students return; third quarter begins. Students return; third quarter begins.
- January 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All schools and offices are closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day; students do not attend.
- February 12: Asynchronous learning day. Asynchronous learning day: students work remotely; teachers report to school.
- February 15: Presidents’ Day. No teachers or students attend.
- March 12: Third quarter ends. Third quarter ends.
- March 15: Fourth quarter begins. Fourth quarter begins.
- March 26: Asynchronous learning day. Asynchronous learning day: students work remotely; teachers report to school.
- March 29 to April 2: Spring break. Spring break; students and teachers are off.
- April 30: Asynchronous learning day. Asynchronous learning day: students work remotely; teachers report to school.
- May 25: Last day of school; fourth quarter ends. Last day for students; final report cards are issued and fourth quarter ends.
